WWII Victory Light Candle Holders Two wooden candle holders stand 14.2cm tall and are not exactly a matched pair, but very close.  They each have a bold V-shaped candle stand on a pedestal with the painted inscription VICTORY LIGHT above crossed olive branches.  The bases have the painted inscription GERMANY 1945.  One is faintly stamped "ges gesch" on the base indicating German manufacture.  Lighting Victory Candles to celebrate freedom and the end of the literal blackout began on May 4, 1945 when German forces surrendered to Montgomery in Denmark.  The practice is still observed in Denmark to this day. Estimate: $40 - $80
