British WWI Soldier's Framed Memorial Plaque. Memorial plaque for "JOHN RILEY" is mounted within a large three column oak display frame measuring 60cm x 45cm (23-5/8" x 17-1/2"), which incorporates an oval frame of this soldier in uniform.  There are no unit insignias visible on his uniform, so unless someone recognizes him from another photo, the best we can do is know that he is one of the 30+ fatal casualties by this name listed by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.  A beautiful tribute to his sacrifice, and his family's loss.  Has a repaired break at the top on the reverse, several cracks and normal wear and finish loss.  Photo appears to be original to the frame, or at the very least installed long ago. Estimate: $100 - $200
