Montluçon German Prisoner of War Trench Art Chip Carved Photo Frame. Very nicely done; 20cm wide x 18cm tall, chip carved frame has geometric and floral motifs, with inscription at the base "Montluçon", flanked by "1914" and "1915".  Details of the frame are stained red, green, and white.  This municipality turns up as a location where the French detained German prisoners of war, and coincidentally, was the home town of French flying ace Jean Arpheuil.  Frame was very likely made by a prisoner.  It currently houses a horizontal format RPPC image of an extended family, but the pasteboard backing is new.. so there is honestly no telling how long that image has been in there.  Reverse has a hanging loop installed (recent), and a dodgy wood stand that functions well at just the exact right angle and circumstances - probably why someone installed the little hanging loop.  Very attractive.  Estimate: $100 - $150
